eBay vs Amazon: which is better?

You have decided to start your business. Now you need to know where to sell your products. There are plenty of places where you can sell your products. Of course everyone knows about eBay and Amazon. If your starting out and you don't feel like starting your own site then I would advice you to use eBay. You can also use Amazon (but there is a big difference between the two sites). With eBay, you will have your own profile and you can create your own eBay store. You can also view eBay university (a set of videos that will help you grow your business). You can join groups that can also grow your business. The biggest postive about eBay is that they have over 200 million users worldwide. The biggest negative I had from my experience with Ebay was that they suspended my account for no apparent reason and it took me 8 days to get my account reinstated. I'm also fighting to get my seller fees back. The other negative thing about ebay is sometimes you have to write them 2 or 3 times before they write you back (But there much better than Amazon. I'll get to that in the next paragraph.).

Now about Amazon. The product you sell will go into that product category (ie: clothing & apparel, electronics, health & beauty, etc). If you sell in certain categories (like the ones I just mentioned) you have to get permission from Amazon to sell in those categories (Be warned: You will need to sell in other categories before you are approved in the restricted categories.). If you want to sell alot of products, you can sign up for seller central. Also if you ship alot, you can join Amazon fulfillment. It will cost $39.99 a month. Amazon also has over 80 million users worldwide. Now as I said earlier about eBay, you will have to write Amazon 4 or 5 times maybe even more before they respond back to you. Personally I don't like using Amazon, but it could work for you. You can leave me comments on how well or not well your experience is on eBay and Amazon.

If you want to use other sites or create your own webstore, read my next post on other sources you can use for your business.
